Specialties

In addition to items that are distinctly British, such as bacon baps* and chips, there are a few places that are simply the best at what they do.

Beigal Bake (Multiple)

On Brick Lane there are two bagel shops near to each other. They both serve made-to-order salt beef sandwiches on fresh baked 30 pence bagels. We tried Beigal Bake, London’s oldest bagel shop. Like many of the locals, we’ve been going ever since.

Choccywoccydooah (Multiple)

If you are a chocoholic like me, this is the place to get your fix. The store is literally filled from floor to ceiling with chocolate. For a special treat, book the secret room above their flagship shop in London. I am not exaggerating when I say that they will serve you more candy and chocolate than you can possibly eat in one sitting.  This cake shop is also featured on Good Food Channel and is known for its celebrity cake creations.

Newland’s Corner (Guildford)

In addition to being a picturesque spot to view the Surrey Hills and the location where Agatha Christie’s car was found when she disappeared in 1926, the concession stand attached to the visitors area serves a delicious bacon (English style) and egg sandwich on a soft bun. You can then a short circular walk that makes a loop back to the Centre.
